What to Expect

Warm friendly people, engaging relevant music and heartfelt worship, God's word preached for daily application and an opportunity to meet God. You'll be encouraged or maybe even challenged, but that's OK.

Expect God. We cannot change lives but God can. We expect the presence of God in every gathering. Where God is present, there is joy, healing, hope and life. We come together to meet with and worship the Creator of the universe and to be changed by Him.

Expect Honesty. You don't have the time to go to a fake religious ceremony--neither do we. Every sermon is real and honest. All teaching at Kentwood is from the Bible and from real life. We all need truth not gimmicks and hype.

Expect Love. At Kentwood, you will be loved no matter what. You can be yourself, Urban, suburban, black, white, rich, poor, young and old are all a part of Kentwood. We all find our identity and commonality at the foot of the cross.

What should I wear?

Whatever you normally wear. We are much more concerned about what's going on inside of a person than the outside. You will see men in business attire and women in dresses but you will also see men in shorts and flip-flops and women in jeans and hoodies. Typically, people are dressed casually.

What's the music like?

Our live band usually consists of guitar, drums and keyboard. No robes. We sing songs that are deep in meaning but easy to understand.

Will I be bored?

We sure hope not. A life connected to Jesus should be fulfilling and rewarding. We plan our gatherings to engage your heart, mind and sould. We use music, video and biblical teaching to help you connect to God in a meaningful way.

Will I be pushed to do something I don't want to do?

No, you are our guest. We will not make you stand up in front of everybody or introduce yourself. There are a lot of great people to meet and lot of things happening on Sunday morning but your level of participation is entirely up to you.

Do my kids sit with me?

We offer children's church for Pre-K through the 5th grade and nurseries for babies and toddlers during the 11:00 am Sunday morning worship service.

Will I be asked to give money?

If it's your first time, we actually want you to keep your wallet in your pocket. Just come and experience a service at Kentwood. If you like it and want to call it your church home, then we believe givig financially to God and His church is the right thing to do a part of the family. (You can even give online.)
