Praying for Querétaro
January 2005
Dear Prayer Partners,
Thank you for your faithful prayers for our people group.
Updates:
San Juan del Rio. We began a new house church the first
Sunday of December with 7 people. Yesterday we had 18 people and Jody led
a 23 year old lady to the Lord who was a first time attendee. We are
excited about the work the Lord is doing there and ask you to pray without
ceasing for this new work. Also
there were three couples missing yesterday who had been attending, and
three new couples who the Lord provided came to worship with us. Also is
was a special blessing as the house church is in the house of Antonio
& Antonia, our team members, and on Saturday Antonia's father had died
and we had his funeral the same day. He was lost, so this made it very
difficult for Antonia as she had witnessed to her father for the last
several years. But the Lord brought great joy Sunday and Antonia gave a
beautiful testimony about the Lord's goodness to her in her life. Please
continue to pray for Antonia during this time.
Amealco. Thank you for praying for Miguel & Dresa. We
talked with them yesterday and we are continuing with training and
encouragement for them. We have workers ready to start the work there and
we are just waiting for them to say okay to a house church in their home.
Thank you to those of you who responded in November and committed to pray
for Amealco. Please continue in your praying.
Pie de Gallo. This is a new location that we visited last
week north of the city of Querétaro. There is a small cell group of 6
believers worshipping there. I ask you to pray for this work as we will be
putting an Indiana group to work there this April. We also have an
additional contact on the other side of Pie de Gallo who will open his
home for a house church. This town is plagued with a lot of Alcoholism.
Please pray for this area and the April event.
Satelite. This is another new area that we are interested
in opening up new house churches. The first week of March a group from
Indiana will be working there with us in an effort to minister to the
residents there. Please pray for this new area and ask the Holy Spirit to
prepare the hearts for this time. The local pastor in this area is
conducting prayer walks prior to our event and his church is very, very
excited about doing these walks. He commented to me today that the church
has never experienced anything like prayer walking. Wow that's exciting to
see believers excited about praying.
Answered prayer:
- In early December Garry & Lori Jones arrived in Querétaro and
set up their home. They are busy establishing contacts and getting to
know the city. I know the Lord will use them in a great way. Please
continue to pray for Garry & Lori.
- We had asked you some time ago to pray for Juan Gabriel Flores as he
struggled in the pastorate. Juan was at the point of leaving the
ministry altogether and the Lord intervened. Juan is pastoring the
church he began with in Empalme Escobedo, Guanajuato. The Lord
answered your prayer!
- We also thank the Lord for his protection and good health he has
given us. Last month we installed a water filter so we would not have
to buy bottled water any longer and began to use it. After a few days
we began to "feel" the effects of this new water. When I
took it apart and checked every thing we found out the ultra-violet
portion of the filter was not working and the water was just tap
water. When they say don't drink the water. . . believe them. And now
we are on bottled water once again.
- The Lord answered another prayer for us and in January we began a
new three-year partnership with the State Convention of Baptists in
Indiana. I know the Lord will do great things through this
partnership.
We love you all and thank you for your faithful prayers. Please keep
praying! Please also pray for the relief efforts and church planting
efforts taking place in South Asia.
¡Que Dios les bendiga!
