Dear Faithful Pray-ers,
God bless each one of you for your faithful prayers during the past
month. We have several things to share with you in the form of praises
and requests.
We are very thankful that team members Sergio and Janet have begun
their year of training at the Word of Life training center in Bernal,
Queretaro. Monday evening we took them there, along with their parents
and their possessions and got them set up in their new residences for a
year. We will miss their contribution to our team but it will be a great
blessing for them to be trained there. Please pray for Sergio and
Janet as they study and grow their relationships with the Lord.
In the house church in Aquiles Serdan we will be baptizing between
6-10 people this month. These will be the pillars of the work in Aquiles
and we are deep into training them in the Christian lifestyle. This will
also be a big step for some who will be making a public declaration of
not only their newfound faith in Jesus but also their exit from the
Catholic traditions that have enslaved them all their lives. There may
be some who will decide not to be baptized at the last minute but we are
really counting on the Lord to solidify their faith. Please pray for
the baptismal service and the candidates in Aquiles Serdan.
In the house church in Central San Juan, in Antonio’s house, we have
been looking at some new strategies to use this house church as more of
a training center. We named this church, Cristo La Roca Fiel, (Christ
the Faithful Rock) and have been meeting there, every Saturday, night
for a year. But God has given us more of a vision for the entire State
of Queretaro lately and we need to expand our training. This seems
strange since we just sent two of our team members off to a school and
we really could use them now, but we are sure God will supply other team
members for our work. With this in mind we will be changing our team
name from Team Tequis to Queretaro para Cristo to facilitate a greater
vision. Antonio will be team leader and in charge of establishing a
network of house churches all across the state instead of just in San
Juan. Jody and I will be doing much more traveling and building more
teams in other parts of the state. This is a HUGE step and we really
need a lot of prayer for this move.
There are several prayer needs that I want to share with you now.
- Please pray for Lori Jones. Lori and Garry are missionaries in
the city of Queretaro. Lori has been diagnosed with cancer of the
thyroid. They are in the US awaiting consults and whatever
treatments are deemed necessary. They need you to pray faithfully
for them during this time.
- A brother from the Jerusalén Baptist church in San Juan had a
stroke Monday morning. His name if Jesus Garcia Castro. Please pray
for Jesus’ rapid recovery, and his family, as he is in the hospital.
Jesus has been one of our workers when we have outreach events with
the Jerusalén brothers. Please pray for Brother Jesus.
- Jody has been hit really hard with allergies this year and we
cannot find any medicines that will help her. Some of the allergy
attacks have caused asthma attacks and this has been very difficult
for us to try to control. Please pray for an answer as to what
medicines we need to look for next.
- In the City of Queretaro Pastor Moises Adáme is really
struggling with three deacons from his church that believe he should
not be involved in starting new churches and should devote all his
time to the Bet-el Baptist church. In essence these deacons are not
happy about new churches. Moises has started two new churches and
they are growing. Please pray that the church brothers get a
vision for winning their communities to Jesus and not just filling
up their pews.
- Please pray for a church planters meeting on the 12th of
September in Irapuato, Guanajuato. Some of the church planters
from Queretaro will attend with me and we truly desire to see the
entire region won for Jesus Christ.
- Please pray for a church planters school that will take place
in middle October in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán. Antonio and I
will be teaching a group of church planters from this coastal region
on church planting practices.
- Please pray for an oral learners workshop to take place in
late October as we try to reach deeper into the population that have
low reading and comprehension skills.
It is not hard to see how hard Satan is working to derail the work in
Queretaro. We have drawn a line in the sand and Satan will not win this
battle. If you have not been praying for the Lost Sheep of Queretaro
please take a moment and pray now. If you have been praying then please
share these requests with a friend and unite your hearts in prayer.
We love you all,
Bro. Rich
