Dear Praying Family,
Thank you for your faithful prayers this month and also thank you for
your kinds notes that were sent our way.
Let me start with the updates from last months petitions.
- This past Sunday night we had a baptismal service in Aquiles
Serdan. I had asked you to pray for the 10 candidates that they
would be bold. We only baptized one person, Vanessa, but it was a
glorious time as we had almost 50 people in attendance for the
service. Continue to pray for those who need to take a stand in
the community and be baptized.
- In Central San Juan in house church Cristo a Roca Fiel, we had
about 15 adults in service this past Saturday night. Thank you for
praying as we re-vamp this house church into more of a training
center.
- Missionaries Garry & Lori Jones will be traveling back to
Queretaro this week to resume their work in the City of Queretaro.
The Lord clearly answered the petitions that were made on behalf of
Lori’s diagnosis as further tests revealed that there was no cancer
but a thyroid problem that is treatable with medications. Thank you
for praying for the Jones’.
- Bro. Jesus Garcia came home from the hospital with the doctors
not knowing what had caused his stroke and not knowing what caused
him to regain his speech and all mobility of his body. We know!
Thank you for praying for Jesus.
- Also thank you for praying for personal strength as we have
sought to continue to “push back the darkness” in Queretaro. We
really needed and continue to need your prayers.
I would ask you to pray for my mother in Pennsylvania as she
had surgery today to repair a diverticuli. The Lord brought my mother
through surgery very well and I ask you to pray for her recovery.
Also please pray for a volunteer group from Beacon Baptist in
Shelbyville, Indiana who will be here in two weeks doing some
discipleship training.
Please pray for Patricia Leon, Sergio’s mother, as we have met
with her a couple times and we are sharing the gospel with her. Also
remember Sergio’s sister, Jessica, who we want to lead to the Lord also.
Please pray for a weekend event on the 13th-15th of October at the
Word of Life camp. We have 5 young adults that we want to send for
this intensive three day outreach camp. Sarai, Olivia, Amilkar, Jessica,
Judith.
Please remember to pray for the church planter’s school in Lázaro
Cárdenas, Michoacán in mid October and the planter’s who will
attend. We are asking the Lord to give us 10 solid church planters out
of this training. Please pray for Antonio as he will lead most of the
training sessions.
That’s all for this month, thank you over and over for your prayers.
Let me share this story with you and I’ll close. In Aquiles Serdan we
have really worked hard to overcome years and years of Catholic
tradition. There were times that it appeared we were loosing the battle.
A couple weeks ago was one of those times. When we got to the house
church on this particular Sunday night there was no one home in any of
the three houses that we normally meet in. I thought wow, no one called,
and no one stopped at our house to tell us they would not be there it
just seemed very strange. Then the following Wednesday we returned to do
our mid-week training and there was only one person in the house church.
I was beginning to feel defeated in this community. I asked Antonio if
we were winning the battle or losing the battle. Antonio never stuttered
he just said we are winning brother. But we prayed and prayed and prayed
that the Lord would do something to show us He was still in control in
this community and waited for Him to answer. Sunday night when we
arrived for the house church service there were almost 50 people packed
into Ismael’s living room. The Lord heard and answered our prayers. We
never had more that around 30 in this house so the Lord did exceeding
abundantly (Ephesians 3:20) once again. Thank you Jesus!
