“Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’?
I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” John 4:35

[ The Heart of Darkness ]

January 30, 2007

Dear prayer warriors,

Thank you for praying! We have seen many changes in the past month and we know it is because of the diligent prayers of the faithful. Let me share a few of them with you.

We are working on a transition in our team. We want our Mexican team to do more of the teaching in the house churches and we will continue to train them and guide them. We held a two day training event in our home and the husband of one of our team members, Miguel, came both days with his wife. Pray for the salvation of Miguel.

Because of the transition, we need more team members! We received two new members because of a work plan with Jerusalem Baptist Church here in San Juan. There hasn't been a change in the quantity of people at this church, but spiritual changes in the few that are attending. They have caught a vision of reaching San Juan for Christ and the family of Vicente and Hermalinda (Linda) has joined our team. They have started a house church in their home and are eagerly inviting the lost to attend. Pray for their continued burden of reaching the lost. Pray that their family struggles will not stop them from their vision.

Vicente and Hermalinda have also started a house church in a community called Banthi. (Ban-TI). The family of the house thought they had received the Lord through another religion, but when Hermalinda shard the gospel one evening, they all realized that they did not have Jesus Christ in their life as their personal Savior. The husband, wife, and grown daughter accepted the Lord and are anxious to share with their neighbors. Please pray for this family to grow. Pray for an activity that will take place on Feb 3rd to reach their neighbors for Christ.

Christmas cantata in Aquiles Serdan - Lalo and Lety made red scarves for all participants The Christmas cantata in Aquiles Serdan went well. Lalo and Lety worked very hard, made red scarves for all those participating, and several families of the community attended. It was a good time of fellowship with some families that have not attended the house church, but with whom we have been witnessing. Pray for these lost families to open their hearts to the true Christ.

Lalo and Lety also began a house church in their home several weeks ago. Praise the Lord that at their first meeting, a young couple accepted the Lord! Lalo and Lety have a heart for reaching their community and have drawn a huge map of their community with a plan of how to reach their neighbors for Christ. Pray that they do not become discouraged with BIG plans and few people. Pray that the Lord will bless their efforts and many lost will be found.

In Aquiles Serdan we have been praying for direction. The adults have been disappearing but continuing to send their children. Although the children want to learn and sing about Jesus, it's important to reach their parents. One evening Ishmael, the owner of the house, asked a question about the salvation of his grandmother who is a devout Catholic. The realization that she would not be in heaven unless she accepted the Lord as her only Savior caused him to be burdened for his lost family. Pray that Ishmael would see his family accept the Lord. Pray that he would be burdened for his community as well.

On the other side of the community of Aquiles Serdan, is Independencia, We now meet Wednesday nights on Ishmael's side and Sunday nights on the side of Lupita and Pedro in their home. We praise the Lord that Vicente and Hermalinda are leading this house church. Pray that this work will grow strong and that they continue to reach their lost neighbors for Christ.

One last praise that I want to share with all of you. My computer crashed on a Saturday morning and I tried to fix it. Everything I have is on this one computer. I had no luck in getting it to start again, and of course, I had no backup. I had to wait and pray all day Sunday and Monday morning for someone to fix the computer. God lead us to a small shop near our home and the owner looked at it, put a disk in it, talked for 20 minutes, and then said we could come back later. When we returned, he said, "Turn it on." It hummed and after a breathless wait, the pretty Windows screen came back on. I thanked the man, paid him, and praised the Lord the whole way home and all afternoon!

Be thankful that the Lord cares about everything in our lives.

  • Please continue to pray for Antonio and Antonia as they will soon oversee the work in San Juan.
  • Pray for more workers because the harvest is plentiful.
  • Pray for those who are praying about going to other parts of Querétaro to reach the lost for Jesus.
  • Pray for a house church that is newly begun in the home of Imelda.

Thank you for the birthday notes and notes that simply say I'm praying for you. We enjoy hearing from you.

God bless,

Rich & Jody
