Dear Praying Family,
We remain grateful for your prayers for the rural dwellers of
Querétaro, Mexico. We are convinced that only fervent prayer will change
the lostness that is prevalent in so much of Mexico. Of course during
this Christmas season we are reminded of the extra prayer emphasis
placed on international missions. So please as you celebrate the birth
of the Savior this month remember also to intercede for the Lost Sheep
of Querétaro.
It has been a couple months since we have sent you an update on the
church planting work going on in Querétaro while we are still in the US.
Our team has opened up a new work in a community called San Isidro. This
is very good news for us because we had previously tried to open up a
work in this town but we were strongly rejected. A new believer has
opened up her home to our team and every Thursday night the church meets
in the community of San Isidro. You are all to be thanked for this new
work because the person who opened their home is the mother of Maricruz.
You prayed for Maricruz and Angela, her mother, for some time as
Maricruz’ mother was very angry with our team and very angry with her
daughter for following Jesus. But prayer prevailed and the Holy Spirit
softened Angela’s heart and today she is a follower of Jesus. Angela
invited her other children and her neighbors into her home to hear the
story of Jesus and some of her neighbors have now made decisions to
become Christians. Please continue to pray for Angela as a delegation
from the national church has already visited her in her home making
threats against her for allowing the evangelical Christians to enter the
community and take her out of the national church.
Please continue to pray for Christ the Faithful Rock Baptist Church.
It has grown considerably and now there are between 25 – 40 people in
attendance for the weekly services. This church is in the process of
planting another church in the community of Pamillas. Two men from
Pamillas came to La Roca and accepted the Lord after a few weeks of
attendance. Their names are Julio and Salvador. Both men were in bondage
to alcohol and now the Lord has given them victory over their
addictions. These two men have large families in the community and they
are already sharing the story of Jesus with their family members. But
there is also persecution from their community as Julio and Salvador
have made radical changes from their former lifestyles and many of their
friends don’t understand the change that has taken place.
Finally we ask for prayer as we prepare to return to Querétaro in
less than 5 weeks. Many plans have already been made, not only for
Querétaro but for the other states where we have missionary families,
and some states where we are trying to place new families to begin
church planting. The need is enormous for more workers in God’s harvest
field. Also we thank you for your prayers for us as we have served here
in the US for the past eight months. More than 10,000 miles have been
traveled, and more than 80 speaking engagements have been fulfilled
advocating for our people segment. Thank you for your faithful giving to
international missions and also for those of you who give to the
Cooperative Program and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Our next
letter will be sent to you from Querétaro next month.
God Bless,
Rich & Jody
