Kentwood Heights Baptist Church is a dynamic congregation in New Kent, Virginia. Our mission is to reach people for a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

 

We have a solid team of musicians and audio visual volunteers for our worship team and are seeking a skilled musician to lead this group in weekly practices and church services. The salary for this position is negotiable based on experience.

 

The Worship Leader will be able to lead worship from the piano, keyboards, or guitar. The Worship Leader will participate in church staff meetings as available, twice weekly worship team practices (Sunday morning and one hour during the week), lead Sunday morning service, and help plan and execute special music events as needed.

Job Description- Worship Leader

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Formal music education is preferred but not required; experience in blended music is required.
  2. Musical direction and teaching.
  3. Ability to organize and coordinate music related to the worship service(s). 
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  5. Ability to deal with diversity in an effective manner.

 

General Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for setting the tone of each worship service in conjunction with the Pastor through music; and organizing, planning and administering the music ministry of Kentwood Heights Baptist Church.  Our membership is looking for someone whose heart of worship and service to God manifests itself in a dynamic prayer life, whole life surrender to Christ, and a vibrant walk with Him in their life.


Specific position responsibilities include:  

  1. Demonstrated musical skill in a variety of genres that speaks to multiple generations. The ideal candidate will have blended experience and talent in leading traditional congregational worship music and contemporary worship experiences.
  2. Coordinate with Pastor or guest Pastor or speaker and musicians to ensure the music enhances the overall worship experience for all.
  3. Plan, develop and organize the music and overhead displays for all required church services to include two services on Sunday morning (when conducted).
  4. Plan, organize and conduct music for seasonal programs, i.e., Christmas, Easter, etc., and for special events (negotiable).
  5. Technical competency in reading music.
  6. Responsible for leadership and training of the Worship Team. 


Expectations:

 

Able to administer duties and responsibilities effectively without direct supervision. Act professionally with integrity and be responsive to the needs of the Pastor, Praise Team, and church membership.


Supervision:  

 

This position will be supervised by the Senior Pastor.

Normal Hours:

 

This is a part time, (15 hours a week), salaried position that will seek to develop our worship ministries to further accomplish our mission of reaching people for a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through organizing and growing our congregational worship experience. Particularly, this position will focus on leading worship during our Sunday worship services and inspiring all generations towards a growing love for Christ.


Salary:

Compensation will depend on experience and is expected to be in the range of $250 - $325 / week
